PROJECT: Centre Parcs – Pancake House
OVERVIEW: The new Centre Parcs development at Woburn Forest was a high profile development looking for a great quality green roof that would be of benefit to the local environment, be long lasting and have a visual impact at the site opening in summer 2014.
High quality planting and environmental awareness were important, however there was also a real need to achieve value for money. A tight delivery schedule called for precise timings and efficient site delivery.
Boningale was able to deliver 11,000 SkyPlugs in nine different varieties which provided a variety of flower forms and colours. Their fast establishment meant that the green roof was looking lush and vibrant in time for the opening, and the robust plant roots spread into the substrate to ensure the plants will grow healthily without ongoing requirement for regular watering and feeding.
The plants were delivered on our own vehicles to ensure timing and paperwork requirements were met precisely, and just 6 months after the last planting the roof was looking fantastic. The brief for a genuinely sustainable sedum roof was met, and due to a variety of rigorous environmental initiatives, the site was awarded ‘considerate constructors approval’.
