Boningale Ltd are a producer and supplier of Hardy Nursery Stock to the amenity, landscape, and retail sectors.

The company operates several wholesale production sites, from propagation to large container grown stock.

Boningale Ltd are committed to operating and working in a manner that protects the environment as far as it is reasonable and practicable to do so by reducing environmental risk and the impact on natural resources, minimising waste and is committed to continual improvement.

This will be achieved by:

  • Maintaining an Environmental Management System.
  • Promotion of environmental and sustainability awareness amongst all employees and provision of sufficient levels of training to allow them to meet their environmental responsibilities.
  • Regular review of relevant legislation and other requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Will be proactive in collaborating to develop new standards or codes of practice where appropriate.
  • Setting and publishing environmental targets, objectives, and performance indicators.
  • Improving the efficiency of energy use within the organisation wherever practicable.
  • Taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint.

Plant Health

  • Continued certification to the Plant Healthy Management system.
  • Producing crops responsibly following current Codes of Practice, legislation, assessing risks to the environment, and taking into consideration sustainability of products used.
  • Follow integrated pest management (IPM) in our plant health programmes ensuring the sustainable use of pesticides.

Growing Media

  • Only purchase growing media from companies who can confirm that all ingredients are sourced and manufactured in a way that is both socially and environmentally responsible.
  • Trials will continue with peat free media, to identity best product for our crops and to gain further growing experience.
  • Where growing media is peat-based suppliers will need to show that they will not use peat extracted from environmentally sensitive areas such as SSSI’s, and that their peat bogs are managed in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • The company monitors the peat usage across all crops.

Water Use

  • Improving the efficiency of water use within the organisation wherever practicable.
  • New developments will prioritise sustainable water use.

Waste

  • Continuing waste reduction, reuse, and recycling activities wherever practicable.

It is the responsibility of the Managing Director to implement this policy, consulting with all Directors, Environmental Manager and Departmental Managers who within their area of responsibility give full support to the Directors.

The Directors and Managers will ensure that they and their staff consider any environmental issues that might affected and influenced by the business activities.

We will conduct regular reviews of performance against the above and to be proactive in our approach to future improvements.

This policy will be reviewed annually and will be available to all staff, customers, suppliers, contractors, and the public.
